Fellow Lowaneu Mawats! We will not be holding our end-of-year celebration due to scheduling conflicts with key chapter leadership. Instead, we may hold a beginning-of-year celebration sometime in August or September. If there are any youth who would like to step up to a chapter leadership position (Vice-Chief of Program, Vice-Chief of Service, Ceremonies Team Member), you need to email me ASAP, as you will need to be involved in planning our chapter's calendar for the upcoming year. Please see the attachment for a list of job responsibilities. At our Ordeal Weekend, 7 new Scouts/Scouter were inducted into Ordeal membership, congratulations to Robbie Crum, Matt Glassman, Elliot Jaffe, Max Lupin, Brian Olcott, Jeffrey Price, and Mark Wishard! Our chapter still has 19 candidates to induct for 2010, so if there are any candidates in your troop that didn't make it then, push them to come out in September for the second opportunity, as it may be the only other opportunity this year. I want to thank all of you that attended our chapter events and meetings, and also lodge functions, throughout this past year- although we didn't average many at the lodge functions, we have around 20 Arrowmen attend every chapter meeting, so thank you for caring! Our success this year has been largely attributed to keeping a hold onto new members, as many that were inducted in 2009 also paid their dues for 2010. As of my most current roster, our chapter has 25 members that are dues paid for 2010, with an additional 36 Arrowmen most currently paid for 2009. If you haven't paid your 2010 dues, please do so, as it is required to attend lodge functions. It will also be required to attend chapter functions in the next year. They are paid through Kelsey Cupples at the Council Office at (561) 694-8585, but if you see me first, I can forward the money too. I would like to thank your Chapter Chief, Ian McKay, who has continued on the tradition of terrific chapter leadership within our Lowaneu Mawat Chapter. Without him, there would have been no chapter this year. Ian has decided to step down and focus on organizing a terrific Section S-4 Conference as its Chairman for when we host it next April. Taking his place for next year will be Jeff Gray, a seasoned Arrowmen inducted back in 2005 who is excited about leading our chapter further than ever before. In addition, I would like to thank Bob Poysell, Dave Carlson, and Chas Carlson, your Chapter Associate Advisor, Immediate Past Chapter Advisor, and Immediate Past Chapter Chief, respectively), on advising our current Chapter Leadership throughout the year. Without their help, initiatives would have had a tougher time being a success. I look forward to guiding the youth for a second year as Chapter Advisor, and I appreciate all that you do in the name of Scouting and the Order of the Arrow. In the words of E. Urner Goodman: "For He Who Serves His Fellows, Is, Of All His Fellows, Greatest". In Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchsik, Witahemui, Stephen Gray Chapter Advisor "Nutemekiset Lowaneu" Shepherd of the North
Elangomats Needed
At the upcoming September Ordeal Weekend, many Ordeal candidates will be going through their Ordeal. It takes good leaders to make sure an Ordeal is run effectively, but an Ordeal is only as good as the Elangomats guiding their clans of candidates. If you think you have what it takes to be a great leader, you should think about volunteering as an Elangomat. It allows you to take a second, closer look at the Ordeal process, and to also cultivate a new understanding about the Order of the Arrow in general. For each Ordeal you volunteer as an Elangomat, you get a special limited-edition Aal-Pa-Tah flap (see below). If you serve as an Elangomat for 3 Ordeals, you get a special, our-lodge-only BLACK SASH (in addition to the three Aal-Pa-Tah flaps along the way). There are two opportunities this year to serve, one in June, and the other in September (with a third, makeup Ordeal possibility). Contact Steve Gray at stevegray237@yahoo.com if you have questions and/or are interesting in signing up.

Chapter Fun Event Recap
On December 19th, 15 of our chapter brothers went to watch the new movie "Avatar" at the Majestic Theater in Vero Beach. Afterwards, we ordered some Little Caesar's pizza and went to the Safari Mini Golf course off of Oslo Road in Vero Beach. Since we were such a great group of people, the manager gave us a discount, and also some Buy 1, Get 1 free passes for next time. We had a contest to see who could shoot the lowest score, and John Keltner won with a score of 37 (1-over par). He will receive an Aal-Pa-Tah Lodge flap as his prize at our January Chapter meeting. Everyone had a blast, and for those that missed it, make sure to come out to our next Chapter Fun event (TBD).

The order is a thing of spirit rather than of mechanics. Organization, operational procedures, and all that go with them are necessary in any large and growing movement, but they are not what counts in the end. The things of the spirit are what count:
Brotherhood--in a day when there is too much hatred at home and aboard
Cheerfulness--in a day when the pessimists have the floor and cynics are popular
Service--in a day when millions are interested in getting or grasping, rather then giving"
Dr. E. Urner Goodman, founder of the O.A.
